Here is a needlepoint design that I am currently working on.
Lil Bo Peep is one of about five Mother Goose characters that are lined up vertically on a wall hanging. It is a big project for my second one, but as with most things I make, I don't let them be stressors in my life. I enjoy having various projects underway so I can choose what I want to work on. Some projects are great for watching a movie; others are better suited for listening to music or books on CDs.
Alternating projects also helps to avoid straining the same joints and ligaments which can be injured by repetitive movement. I had a tennis elbow once which really flared up from a knitted lace project I was working on. It took a long time to heal and it is best to try to prevent those injuries from the outset.
Spring is a good time to consider a project for the summer when schedules can be somewhat less hectic. Don't wait until summer is upon us to pick a project, because as with many things in life, by the time the ball gets rolling the season is nearly over.
I'm smiling just thinking of the long summer evenings with crickets singing, lightening bugs flashing their messages, me knitting or needlepointing outside, and the kids running all around. So many things to look forward to!
