I had a wedding shower for one of my nieces today and boy did we have fun!
My niece's fiance came and I was anxious to meet this man who was willing to spend a Sunday afternoon with a houseful of women; mother-in-law to be, aunts, cousins, and two tiny baby girls. He is a great guy and I thanked my niece for choosing someone who will be such a great addition to the family.
Above are the coasters I made as favors for the guests. I tied them in bunches of four; some bunches having all of one design and others having four different fabrics. Family is easy to please, but it seemed like these were a hit.
This is a great project for using up small pieces of left over fabric or for getting a fabric that you love but don't want to pay for a whole yard; a quarter of a yard makes eight coasters. I think incorporating handmade items into special occasions makes them even more memorable and contributes to people feeling connected to each other. I'm always pleasantly surprised to see how much joy such a small gift like this can bring.
